Disability services
The Minnesota Department of Human Services Disability Services Division manages publicly funded programs that support people with a variety of disabilities, including developmental disabilities, chronic medical conditions, acquired or traumatic brain injuries and physical disabilities.

Over the past two decades, Minnesota has successfully transitioned from high use of institutional services, such as regional treatment centers, and nursing facilities, to effectively serving people with disabilities with flexible, cost effective home and community based services. These services promote CHOICE.

Meetings to provide updates on two major federal compliance initiatives
Human services consumers, families, advocates, providers and program administrators are invited to attend initiative update meetings across the state in April. Several face-to-face forums and videoconferences across multiple sites are being held to address upcoming changes to the home and community-based services rate setting and provider enrollment structure.

DHS has engaged in a planning process with numerous internal and external stakeholders that will drive the implementation of the new rate-setting methodologies and provider enrollment processes. These new processes begin implementation in January 2011, with complete implementation by December 2011.
