8.3.6.3 Changes in Reporting Type

ISSUE DATE: 04/2018

A family may change reporting types during the 12 month eligibility period or at redetermination. Only one reporting type is allowed per biweekly period in MEC2. However, a family’s reporting type may change on any day for purposes of authorizing care.

Changing from a 12 Month Reporter to a Schedule Reporter

If a change occurs that would change the family’s reporting type from 12 Month Reporter to Schedule Reporter, the date the family becomes a Schedule Reporter is:

  • · If a child begins using multiple providers: The family becomes a Schedule Reporter on the date that care was authorized with multiple providers as listed on the Service Authorization.
  • · If a child begins using a legal nonlicensed provider: The family becomes a Schedule Reporter on the date that care was authorized with the legal nonlicensed provider as listed on the Service Authorization.
  • · If a parent begins working at a child care center: The family becomes a Schedule Reporter on the date that employment began.
  • Changing from a Schedule Reporter to a 12 Month Reporter

First, determine whether the family has any factors that continue to make the family a Schedule Reporter.

If a change occurs that would change the family’s reporting type from Schedule Reporter to 12 Month Reporter, the date the family becomes a 12 Month Reporter is:

  • · If a child stops using multiple providers: The family becomes a 12 Month Reporter on the date that authorization ends with multiple providers as listed on the Service Authorization.
  • · If a child stops using a legal nonlicensed provider: The family becomes a 12 Month Reporter on the date that authorization ends with the legal nonlicensed provider as listed on the Service Authorization.
  • · If a parent stops working at a child care center: The family becomes a 12 Month Reporter on the date that employment ended.
