Becoming a training sponsor/coordinator

Persons who are not registered as training providers/coordinators must complete the Insurance Provider/Coordinator Approval Application. Further information is available on the Department of Commerce’s webpage regarding education for providers and coordinators.

Offering a Partnership course

Persons who are registered as training providers/coordinators and wish to offer a Partnership course may submit a proposed course using a Continuing Education Course Approval Application (PDF). Further information is available on the Department of Commerce’s webpage regarding continuing education.

Required content and format

Minnesota law (M.S. 60K.365) requires an insurance producer selling long term care insurance policies in Minnesota to complete a one-time eight-hour Partnership course and a four-hour refresher course every two years thereafter. Both courses can be completed as continuing education and therefore may be taken either in a classroom or through interactive distance learning. Questions about the training can be directed by email to the Minnesota Department of Commerce at Education.Commerce@state.mn.us
