| Effective July 1, 2009, a new federal rule for Medicaid case management rescinds certain provisions of the Dec. 4, 2007, interim final rule. The interim rule had been subject to a moratorium on implementation by Congress. Additional information is in the Federal Register notice (PDF) and letter to CMS. Counties and tribes should continue their current practices, including claiming for Child Welfare Targeted Case Management. |
| An interim final rule published Dec. 4, 2007, by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed changes to case management services. Information online from the Department of Human Services includes: |

• A letter to the Minnesota commissioner of Finance, which estimates and certifies the loss of forecasted federal revenue associated with the regulation. This allows $32.7 million appropriated by the 2007 Legislature to temporarily mitigate federal funding losses to be allocated to counties and tribes (PDF.)  |
