Ruth Hunstiger, director of Community Services for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud, Minn., oversees many community action projects throughout Minnesota. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Cloud is a nonprofit, human service agency committed to building communities, promoting family life, and enhancing human dignity by offering services to meet the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of Minnesota’s individuals and families.

Sarah Kniskern Aughenbaugh, SNAP Outreach grant manager for the department’s Office of Economic Opportunity, coordinates contracted SNAP Outreach activities, including increasing program participation and information throughout Minnesota.

The Office of Economic Opportunity works with local communities to build capacity and promote efforts supporting a wide range of services for Minnesotans experiencing poverty, including programs that support food, housing and financial fitness.

Emergency Foodshelf Network

Lori Kratchmer, executive director of the Emergency Foodshelf Network, oversees the full service food bank that provides quality, nutritious food and support services to more than 200 hunger relief partners, including food shelves, on-site meal programs and Fare For All sites throughout Minnesota.

Jessica L. Webster

Jessica L. Webster is a staff attorney at the Legal Services Advocacy Project, a statewide division of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, which is supported by the regional legal services programs in the state.

Legal Services Advocacy Project staff advocate on behalf of low-income Minnesotans, including youth, elderly and people with disabilities, in legislative and administrative forums. Project staff members focus on issues affecting health, family, home, income and asset security.

Metro Meals on Wheels

Metro Meals on Wheels supports 36 Meals on Wheels programs within the Twin Cities, serving nutritious meals to seniors and those with disabilities, while also providing essential services to its member programs, including volunteer recruitment, fundraising, community outreach and advocacy.

Patrick Rowan, executive director, and Tara Kumar, Member Services manager, continually focus efforts on serving their fellow Minnesotans and on local partners to build capacity, increase efficiency and share best practices to better meet the growing demand for home delivered meals.

Operations Manager Kathy Zeman oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association, a non-profit, membership-based organization that supports the growth and development of Minnesota’s farmers markets. Zeman owns Simple Harvest Farm Organics, a 20-acre certified organic omnivore food farm in Nerstrand, Minn.

Colleen Moriarty, Executive Director

Hunger Solutions Minnesota is a comprehensive hunger relief organization that works to end hunger in Minnesota. Executive Director Colleen Moriarty is a full-time advocate of outreach by supporting agencies that provide food to those in need, advancing public policy and guiding grassroots advocacy. She is a member of the Nutritious Food Coalition, which is focused on increasing the number of Minnesotans who are eligible for, but not currently, on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to ensure they are getting the healthy food they need.

Sara Nelson-Pallmeyer, Director

Sara Nelson-Pallmeyer is the director of Minnesota FoodShare, a program of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches that coordinates the state’s largest annual food drive. Minnesota FoodShare works year-round to increase statewide awareness on issues of hunger, food and nutrition.
