Help seeing your doctor or getting medication

Are you having trouble seeing your doctor or getting a prescription filled?

You can still see your doctor or get a prescription even if you do not have your member card.
Some people who applied for health care through MNsure may not receive notices or health care cards right away. The DHS Member Help Desk can answer questions about your application or coverage for a Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP). If you qualify for coverage, we can help you work with your doctor or pharmacy to get services and prescriptions you need.

If you applied in January and are eligible for MA, you may get coverage back to January 1, 2014.

What to show your doctor or pharmacy

If you were told you can get Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, but do not yet have your member card:

  • • If you can, print the screen from MNsure that shows you are approved. Bring that page with you to your doctor or pharmacy
  • • If you cannot print the screen from MNsure, bring any other information you have that says you qualify for coverage
  • • If you got a notice, bring it with you to show your doctor or pharmacy
  • • If you do not have anything to show you are eligible, give your Social Security Number and birth date to your clinic or pharmacy. They can use that information to check your eligibility
  • What your doctor or pharmacy needs to do

We told all providers that members may not get member cards right away. Your doctor or pharmacy will be able to help you get services. They can check if you qualify through the automated systems. They can also call the Provider Call Center if they do not see your information in the system.

If we said you qualify, but your clinic or pharmacy does not have that information, ask them to call the Provider Call Center. The Call Center will be able to help them find out if you qualify for coverage.
