Telephone Equipment Distribution (TED) Program

The TED Program provides telephone equipment to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, speech impaired or have a physical disability and need adaptive equipment in order to use the phone. The equipment is loaned out at no cost as a long-term loan. Available equipment include captioned phones, light flashing ring signalers, TTYs, amplified telephones, loud ringers, hands free speakerphones and more.

Beginning July 1, 2011, the TED Program will provide Minnesota Relay Outreach services from our regional offices in Moorhead, Duluth, St. Cloud, St. Paul and Mankato. Minnesota Relay Outreach services will include distributing informational pamphlets, explaining how Minnesota Relay services work, documenting complaints and commendations, conducting presentations and one-on-one trainings, and demonstrating equipment options. What if I don’t qualify?

Vendors are available that supply adaptive equipment for deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, speech disabled, and physically disabled individuals for purchase. Please see the vendor lists below, or contact the TED Program to receive a copy of this or for information on additional resources.

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division is offering a new program called iCanConnect-MN. This program is federally funded and separate from the TED Program. The purpose of this program is to provide equipment to individuals who are Deafblind and low income. The equipment distributed include a boarder range than the TED Program. The TED Program focuses on telecommunication devices related to the telephone. To learn more about iCanConnect
