Grant contracts services for state fiscal year 2013

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Division (DHHSD) is responsible for contracting with community-based agencies to provide the following specialized services for deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing Minnesotans: deafblind services, mental health services and interpreter referral services.

Funds for these services have been appropriated by the Minnesota Legislature. Most contracts are awarded through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process unless otherwise directed by the Legislature.

Grants are usually awarded for two years although they may be extended for up to five years based on the needs of the state and satisfactory performance by the contract vendor.

Consumer directed services program

Serves adults and families with children who are deafblind; individuals receive a grant allocation that can be used for services or goods that they need to maintain their independence, integrate into their families or communities, and/or develop communication skills.

Support Service Providers (SSPs) and Intervener Services for DeafBlind Adults

These service providers assist adults with deafblindness in conducting day-to-day activities that are necessary for individuals to stay self-sufficient and independent.

Organizes and hosts community integration activities and educational events for individuals who are deafblind.

Mental health services grant contracts

Specialized mental health services for persons with hearing loss. Services for children, ages 0-21:

Volunteers of America- Minnesota

Mental health services for children and adolescents coping with emotional behavior disorders and/or mental illness. Most services take place within the school setting, however, home-based and outpatient services are also available. For more information on this service visit: their web site.
