Child Development Services (CDS), a unit of the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Community Partnerships Division, promotes children’s development and learning by improving the quality of children’s care and education in:

  • • Licensed child care centers
  • • Licensed family child care homes
  • • Informal care provided by family, friends and neighbors
  • • Before- and after-school programs.

  • CDS is committed to supporting quality improvement that is culturally sensitive and focused on school readiness. Services are provided with a special emphasis on reaching children at risk of not being ready for kindergarten, in partnership with families, communities and early childhood and school-age care programs.
