The Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health

The mission of the State Advisory Council on Mental Health is to advise the Governor, Legislature and heads of state departments and agencies about policy, programs, and services affecting people with mental illnesses. The Council reviews the recommendations of the Subcommittee on Children’s Mental Health and incorporates these recommendations into its reports and recommendations.

The Comprehensive Mental Health Act also requires the Council to coordinate the work of local children's and adult mental health advisory councils.

Under state law, the Council files a formal report to the Governor and Legislature each even-numbered year (see Publications above).
