The Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health

Mission
The basic mission of the State Advisory Council is to advise the Governor and heads of state departments and agencies about policy, programs, and services affecting people with mental illnesses. The Council reviews the recommendations of the Subcommittee on Children’s Mental Health and incorporates these recommendations into its reports and recommendations.
The Comprehensive Mental Health Act also requires the Council to coordinate the work of local children's and adult mental health advisory councils.
Under state law, the Council files a formal to the Governor and Legislature each even-numbered year (see Publications above)
The State Advisory Council is also governed by federal law. See Background Information above for a link to the state and federal laws.
