4.6.1 Activity Requirements Based on Family Composition

Single parent, unmarried legal guardian, or eligible relative caregiver

The applicant or participant must meet authorized activity requirements and other eligibility requirements of the sub-program the family is applying for or participating in.

Two parents, a parent and stepparent, a legal guardian and spouse, or an eligible relative caregiver and spouse

  • At least one parent, legal guardian, eligible relative caregiver, or spouse must meet authorized activity requirements and other eligibility requirements of the sub-program the family is applying for or participating in. The other parent, legal guardian, eligible relative caregiver, or spouse must:
  • · Meet authorized activity and other eligibility requirements of the sub-program the family is applying for or participating in.
  • OR

  • · Be unable to provide care for the applicant’s child or dependent as determined by a licensed physician, licensed psychologist, licensed psychiatrist, or licensed social worker. The status of the parent who is determined to be “unable to provide care” may be permanent or temporary.
  • · If the parent or other Parentally Responsible Individual (PRI) in the household is unable to provide care for a child or children in the family for medical reasons, the Parent Medical Condition Form DHS-6305 (PDF) can be used to verify that a parent or other Parentally Responsible Individual (PRI) in the household has a medical condition and is unable to provide care for their child(ren).
  • · If the parent or other Parentally Responsible Individual (PRI) in the household is unable to provide care for a child or children in the family for other reasons, such as safety concerns, the needs of other children or house arrest, accept verification that verifies that a parent or other Parentally Responsible Individual (PRI) in the household is unable to provide care for their child(ren) if it is signed by a licensed physician, licensed psychologist, licensed psychiatrist or licensed social worker.
