17.18 Developmental Disability

Family Stabilization Services Criteria:

Description.

A participant who meets both of the following conditions:

  • · Having a developmental disability – which means an impairment of general intellectual functioning that was present before the person’s 22nd birthday.
  • · Being unable to get or keep work for at least 20 hours a week.
  • Who Can Confirm the Condition.

    How Often to Review Documentation.

    Request updated verification at least annually, but sooner if the medical opinion indicates a shorter time frame.

    For lifelong conditions such as Developmental Disability, request verification at least annually that the condition prevents the participant from getting or working at least 20 hours per week or significantly limits the types of employment a participant may do.

    Additional Requirements.

    The documentation should include a determination that the participant is unable to work 20 or more hours a week. If the statement from the qualified professional is not specific or clear, ask the professional to clarify.
