Date: Jan. 22, 2018
To: Lead agency staff and all interested stakeholders
From: DHS Aging and Adult Services and Disability Services divisions
Purpose: To alert lead agencies that older adults and people with disabilities who receive services may receive phone calls in the near future as the National Core Indicators – Aging and Disabilities project begins.
Older adults and people with disabilities who receive home and community-based services may be called and invited to participate in an in-person interview for the National Core Indicators - Aging and Disabilities (NCI-AD) initiative. These calls will begin the week of Jan. 22, 2018, and continue through May.
NCI-AD is a project to gather opinions and experiences of older adults and people with disabilities in Minnesota who receive home and community-based services and supports. Minnesota is one of 20 states collaborating with the National Association of State Units for Aging and Disabilities and the Human Services Research Institute to conduct the in-person interviews for 2017-18.
Vital Research is the outside group that will conduct the interviews and make the phone calls.
Your agency, case managers or care coordinators may receive calls from people who want to verify or confirm this is a real project. People also may call to ask if DHS is implementing this initiative, or they may have other questions about the interview or interviewers, the project generally or how they were identified to be a participant.
To prepare for questions, familiarize yourself with the Minnesota NCI-DD/AD 2017-18 website hosted by Vital Research. This website includes a program overview, copies of the letter people may receive, frequently asked questions and pictures of interviewers who may call people to ask permission to interview them.
