RCA 6-MONTH REVIEWS AND MONTHLY CHECK-INS
ISSUE DATE: 04/2026
Participants whose RCA eligibility period is more than 6 months must complete a 6-month review. A participant whose RCA eligibility period is less than 6 months will not have a 6-month review. See 0030.03 (Refugee Cash Assistance).
All RCA participants are also required to cooperate with monthly check-ins. If a person fails to cooperate, provide a 10-day notice of a check-in requirement. If the check-in is incomplete, close RCA for the next available month, allowing a 10-day closure notice.
At monthly check-ins, workers conduct a case review over the phone, internet telepresence, face-to-face in the county office, or in another location mutually agreed upon with the RCA participant(s) to review their situation.
When conducting monthly check-ins, review the case and assess:
● | What conditions exist that affect the participant's progress toward self-sufficiency? |
● | What services is the participant currently receiving? |
● | Are there any other service options that should be considered, including participation in other programs (for example, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment & Training (SNAP E&T))? |
● | Is the participant's employment plan still appropriate? |
● | Is the participant currently exempt from Employment Services? |
● | What resources might be available to the participant when RCA ends? |
