Background

Home care is an option that offers a range of medical care and support services provided in the person’s home and community. Services range from simple assistance in activities of daily living to a level of care similar to cares provided in a hospital.

Prior authorization varies among home care services. All home care agencies must follow the appropriate authorization process before the start of care if they plan to bill Minnesota Medical Assistance for their services.

Choice of provider

A person must receive choice of providers to deliver services.

Services

1. Home health aide (HHA)
2. Home care nursing (HCN)
3. Skilled nurse visit (SNV)
4. Home care therapies
5. Personal care assistance (PCA)
