METS Training Region
This page contains information about the METS training region.
How to Request Access and Security Issues
Access to the METS TRNG region is requested by security liaisons at the county or DHS agencies. Individual logins for county agencies can be requested through the DHS Security Remedy on Demand online system.
Note: Data Privacy courses must be completed by a worker before requesting access.
Security Issues
If a user password is suspended, request unsuspend from the DHS security helpdesk. In the request, include the METS TRNG region and the user’s TRNG logon ID, see roles below.

An example of a username will be: TRNG(Xnumber)HCR, TRNGX123456HCR
Individual users are responsible for maintaining the login information. Logon-related issues would be reported to your agency’s security liaison. These logons follow the same 30-day password change requirement as in the METS production.

Google Chrome is a preferred browser to access training region.
Note: You do not need to install or use VPN software. The training region is not behind the firewall.
Troubleshooting
If there are any issues related to the TRNG region that are not related to security access, and the issue occurs outside of the scheduled unavailability times please email dhs.hc.trainersonline-questions@state.mn.us.
Availability
The METS TRNG region is available for DHS, county, and tribal agency use for training purposes. The TRNG region is updated to match the latest production code after each production deployment. The production deploys for METS are scheduled quarterly throughout the year. The major quarterly deployment takes about one business day to complete and resolve any issues.

Working on Cases

Important: Please only access, use, or modify cases that your agency created. Do not enter any real client personal information into this region.
Functionality and Limitations
METS TRNG functionality closely aligns with the METS production region.
Supported actions:
- Enter applications through the worker portal
- Case note
- Complete CIC’s
Unsupported actions:
- Renewals and renewal processing
- Does not ping to Federal Hub, SAVE, and PRISM
- Cases do not auto-close or age
- Complete case observations that are part of the METS Systems class homework
Note: METS TRNG is refreshed annually during the first week of September.
Interface
- METS TRNG interfaces to MMIS SKIL (CICSDVA). The estimated amount of time to an interface is 20 -30 minutes.
- Notices are generated up to 30 seconds after the case is approved.
