Webinar announcement: Culture of Safety Three-Day Advanced Practical Training

Time and date

All sessions are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025
  • Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025
  • Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025

Note: DHS recommends participants attend all three sessions.

Description

This advanced practical training covers how to:

  • Use safety science principles to respond to critical incidents.
  • Engage employees in safety and improvement efforts.
  • Analyze systemic factors related to unintended outcomes.

Note: This training provides tips and information to help organizations better understand why work does not happen as expected. The training does not cover best practices to directly reduce incidents and increase safety when organizations serve people.

Learning objectives

After the training, participants will be able to:

  • Define human factors and safety science principles.
  • Describe old and new views of safety.
  • Describe how the incident review model improves Minnesota’s disability services system.
  • Incorporate safety science concepts in their day-to-day work.

Target audience

245D-licensed providers, lead agencies, particularly people directly involved in:

  • Agency oversight and leadership.
  • Incident data and response.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Licensure.
  • Risk management compliance.
