Webinar announcement: Culture of Safety Orientation

Date and time

DHS will host three identical sessions from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026.
  • Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026.

Note: DHS offers the Culture of Satefy Orientation three times per year. Each session will cover the same information as previous Culture of Safety Orientations.

Description

This webinar will cover the human factors and safety science principles necessary to analyze critical incidents and inform decision-making. It also will explain how and why DHS uses this incident review model to study the disability services system. For more information, refer to DHS – Culture of Safety critical incident review.

Learning objectives

After the training, participants will be able to:

  • Define safety science principles.
  • Describe and compare old and new views of safety.
  • Describe how Minnesota uses the incident review model to improve the disability service system.
  • Use the safety science principles to inform their work.
