Training on Minnesota Rules, chapter 9544

DHS and partners developed a new optional training on Minnesota Rules, chapter 9544, commonly referred to as the Positive Supports Rule or the rule on positive support strategies and restrictive interventions.

Training details

Use the following information to complete the new optional training:

· Length: 43 minutes

· Audience: Service providers licensed under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 245D.

· Training video: To complete the training, refer to YouTube – Minnesota DHS Training: Minnesota Rule 9544 for service providers licensed under Minnesota Statute 245D training.

Additional training

DHS now offers two trainings that review Minnesota Rules, chapter 9544 requirements. Rule requirements vary by license type. We encourage service providers to complete the training that matches their license:

· 245D-licensed providers: Complete the 245D training at YouTube – Minnesota DHS Training: Minnesota Rule 9544 for service providers licensed under Minnesota Statute 245D training.

· 245A-licensed providers: Complete the 245A training at YouTube – Minnesota DHS Training: Minnesota Rule 9544 for service providers licensed under Minnesota Statute 245A training.
Note: DHS does not recommend the 245A training for child care providers, who are exempt from these requirements under Minn. Stat. §245.8251, subd. 1 and Minn. Stat. §142B.63.
