Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations

Overview

A trading partner can be a billing intermediary, clearinghouse, or electronic data interchange (EDI) trading partner. Providers wishing to add a trading partner as an affiliation will follow the steps Add a new service provider to trading partner affiliation in the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal.

Providers who need to update an existing affiliation to a trading partner will follow the steps Update an existing service provider to trading partner affiliation in MPSE.

Steps to Add a New Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliation:

  • 1. When you log in to MPSE, the program will take you to the Manage Portfolio page. Click the Create a New Request button at the bottom of this page.
  • 2. Select Service provider to trading partner affiliation request in the Request Type field.
  • 3. Enter a Request Effective Date. The Request Effective Date is the date you want Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) to consider your request to be in effect.
  • 4. Click Continue.
  • 5. This will bring you to the Manage Enrollment Record page. Click Edit in the row for the enrollment record that you wish to add the affiliation to.
  • 6. Using the Right-Side Navigation, click on Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations.
  • 7. Click Create New Affiliation.
  • 8. In the NPI/UMPI field, type the national provider identifier (NPI) or unique Minnesota provider identifier (UMPI) of the trading partner you wish to affiliate the provider to.
  • 9. Click Search.
  • 10. Find the desired trading partner in the search results and click Select in the User Actions column.
  • · If MPSE finds no search results, contact the trading partner you are attempting to affiliate with to confirm that the information you are searching with is accurate. Note that the trading partner you select to affiliate with must already be enrolled with MHCP before you make the affiliation request.
  • 11. Complete the Affiliation Information section of this page.
  • · Only add the End Date when the affiliation is no longer effective.
  • · The name of the person who completes the Affiliation Information section in MPSE should be the name entered in the Digital Signature and Signers Title fields (not the name of the person who signs the Electronic Remittance Advice Request [DHS-4087]).
  • · Click Upload to add the required Electronic Remittance Advice (RA) Request (DHS-4087) (PDF).
  • 12. Click Continue to save your information and return to the Manage Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations page.
  • 13. Repeat Steps 7 through 12 to add additional trading partner affiliations to this enrollment record.
  • 14. Using the Right-Side Navigation, click on Submit Request.
  • 15. Complete the attestation by checking the attestation box and click Submit for Approval.
  • 16. Click Continue to return to the Manage Portfolio page.
  • Steps to Update an Existing Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliation:

  • 1. When you log in to MPSE, the program will take you to the Manage Portfolio page. Click the Create a New Request button at the bottom of this page.
  • 2. Select Service provider to trading partner affiliation request in the Request Type field.
  • 3. Enter a Request Effective Date. The Request Effective Date is the date you want MHCP to consider your request to be in effect.
  • 4. Click Continue.
  • 5. This will bring you to the Manage Enrollment Record page. Click Edit in the row for the enrollment record that you wish to update the affiliation for.
  • 6. Using the Right-Side Navigation, click on Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations.
  • 7. Find the desired trading partner affiliation in the All Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations section and click View/Edit in the User Actions column.
  • 8. Complete the Affiliation Information section. The name of the person who completes the Affiliation Information section in MPSE should be the name entered in the Digital Signature and Signers Title fields (not the name of the person who signs the Electronic Remittance Advice Request [DHS-4087]).
  • 9. Click Continue to save your information and return to the Manage Service Provider to Trading Partner Affiliations page.
  • 10. Repeat Steps 7 through 9 to update additional trading partner affiliations on this enrollment record.
  • 11. Using the Right-Side Navigation, click on Submit Request.
  • 12. Complete the attestation by checking the attestation box and click Submit for Approval.
  • 13. Click Continue to return to the Manage Portfolio page.
