MA-LTC Training Overview

Workers who process MA-LTC eligibility for clients residing in an LTCF or requesting home and community-based services through the Elderly Waiver (EW) or who process eligibility for those populations and the disability waivers complete this training sequence.

The MA-LTC sequence includes all associated assessments, online courses, and a four day classroom class. The sequence is listed in the handout out packet and also on the Course Sequencing page in TrainLink.

The MA-LTC series builds on foundational knowledge learned during the MA Legacy series. Financial workers should have a solid MA foundation of both the policy and MAXIS system knowledge for the aged, blind and disabled (ABD) population prior to beginning the MA-LTC series. We recommend at least six months experience with an ABD caseload; preferably one year.

Training Schedule Recommendation

To help you incorporate training into your workload, we suggest the schedule provided below. This schedule was designed based on beginning online training 60 days before attending the MA-LTC Systems classroom training.

Course Materials

Each MA-LTC online course requires you to print certain course materials. Course materials may include handouts, flowcharts, training cases, and forms. This section provides information on printing options.

Handouts, Flowcharts and Training Cases
There are two options available for printing the handouts, flowcharts and training cases.

  • Print all case materials for the series of MA-LTC online courses at one time. Five print packets have been compiled – one packet for each of five training cases. See the “Printing Packets” section of this page for more information.
  • Print course materials when taking a specific course. Print materials are provided in the Introduction Module of each course.

Forms
You are not required to print the forms referred to in the online courses. If you choose to print forms you have two options:

  • Print all forms utilized in a course from the list provided in the Introduction Module of each course.
  • Print the form from a link in the course at the time the course refers to the form.

Printing Packets

This section provides a link to each of the five print packets which provide case packet materials for all of the MA-LTC online courses. Each packet was designed to be printed front to back. Policy, systems and procedural information is current as of the date listed at the bottom of each document.

Handout Print Packet

The handout print packet includes all handouts, flowcharts and activity documents from all of the MA-LTC online courses. We highly recommend that you file these materials, labeled for each course, in a three-ring binder. All LTC course handouts are available on DHS-SIR in the Health Care Training Toolkit in the MA-LTC site.

You will be paper processing five training cases throughout the MA-LTC series of courses. Each case’s print packet includes all training case materials provided in each of the MA-LTC online courses and the Annuities 101 online course. Forms needed to complete the paper processing of each case are also included in the case print packet. We highly recommend that you file each case and related materials into separate case file folders. Applications can also be found on DHS-SIR in the Health Care Training Toolkit in the MA-LTC site.
