Participants do not immediately lose their eligibility for child care assistance when an activity ends.

When a participant's only authorized activity permanently ends, child care assistance will continue for up to 3 months or until the next redetermination, whichever occurs first. This is called extended eligibility.

All participants in the Child Care Assistance Program are subject to the same reporting requirements.

Participants must report the following changes within 10 days:

· Family income that puts the family over 85% of the state median income for their family size.

· Address or residency

· Family status, such as marriage or divorce

· Household composition

· Citizenship or immigration status for any child receiving child care assistance

· Visitation schedule or custody arrangement for any child receiving child care assistance

· Permanent end to authorized activity

· Start providing child care or start working in a new or different child care setting

· Assets that exceed $1 million

Participants who intend to change child care providers must report to the child care assistance worker and the provider at least 15 days before the change.

· This does not apply if the provider’s license has been temporarily, immediately suspended or if there is imminent risk of harm to the health, safety, or rights a child in the care of a legal nonlicensed provider, license exempt center, or a provider licensed by an entity other than the State of Minnesota.

The participant’s activity determines whether the authorization of child care hours may change.
