MN-ITS Registration

I am a clearinghouse or billing intermediary.

A provider contracts with a clearinghouse or a billing intermediary to translate non-standard transactions into HIPAA compliant transactions. Please refer to Provider Update MNT-04-01 (March 2004) for registration purposes.

Help Us Ensure That BOTH Billers and Providers Receive RAs

When providers contract with a clearinghouse or billing intermediary for electronic health care claims submission, it is in the best interest of the billing organization to ensure that both you AND the providers you serve have a clear understanding of the MN–ITS RA retrieval processes, outlined here.

After clearinghouses and billing intermediaries register for (and test, if needed, within) MN–ITS:

· DHS will establish your MN–ITS mailbox and place your RA within that mailbox. Your RA will include all claims processed within a warrant cycle, regardless of the submission format. However, please note:

· Clearinghouses will receive an X12 835 RA if authorized by your "pay-to" provider.

· Billing intermediaries: If you submit claims via:

· MN–ITS Interactive, your RA will be in PDF format.

· MN–ITS Batch, your RA will be in the X12 835 format.

· Both methods, your RA will be in both formats.

· Currently, the PDF can only be delivered to the registered "pay-to" provider's mailbox. Soon, the PDF will also be delivered to the registered billing intermediary’s mailbox.

· DHS will send the "pay-to" provider (billing through a clearinghouse) a copy of the X12 835 RA in their MN–ITS mailbox if requested.
