MFIP/Tribal TANF Conference
The Economic Assistance and Employment Supports Division (EAESD) at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) hosts a conference for providers of Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) and Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
The MFIP/Tribal TANF Conference is an opportunity to engage with stakeholders across the system to refocus our goals, learn from each other, find ways to better support the people we serve and celebrate the achievements and hard work of people across the system.

Registration and nominations for the 2026 MFIP/Tribal TANF conference is open!

THEME: Connected in Purpose: Strengthening families, Supporting workers, Building community.
Please register for the conference and nominate your peers, colleagues, supervisors, managers and/or team for recognition awards by 3/27/2026.
All registered attendees will receive an invitation to the breakout sessions selected in the registration and main sessions below. Nominators and nominees will be informed shortly ahead of the conference if the nominee is selected for recognition.
MFIP/Tribal TANF Conference Welcome and Keynote
Tuesday, April 14th from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Keynote Title: Healing the Whole Self: An Indigenous Perspective on the Role of Culture and Community in Fostering Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Financial Health
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Anton Treuer
In this inspiring and deeply grounded presentation, Dr. Anton Treuer explores how Indigenous knowledge systems offer powerful frameworks for promoting holistic well-being. Drawing from Ojibwe teachings and contemporary research, Dr. Treuer illuminates the interconnectedness of physical, mental, spiritual, and financial health, emphasizing balance and relationship as the foundation of individual and community resilience. Participants will gain insights into how culturally rooted practices can strengthen social services, enhance program outcomes, and support healing for individuals and families navigating challenging circumstances. Through storytelling, practical strategies, and cross-cultural understanding, Dr. Treuer invites attendees to envision a path toward wellness that honors both tradition and innovation in today’s world.
MFIP Participant Presentation and Panel, Conference Closing, and Employee Recognition Awards
Thursday, April 16th from 10:40 AM - 12:00 PM
On the last day of the conference, the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) will recognize staff and work teams for their contributions and exceptional service.
The following awards will be presented:
-Employment Counselor of the Year
-Eligibility Worker of the Year
-Rising Star – less than 3 years of service
-Lifetime Achievement Award – 20+ years of service
-Exceptional/Innovative Leadership – supervisors, managers, and lead workers
-Exceptional Teamwork – within your agency or a collaboration with a community partner
