Purpose: To remind lead agencies and providers that people cannot receive extended personal care assistance (PCA) after Sept. 30, 2026
Effective: Oct. 1, 2026

Extended PCA ends Sept. 30, 2026

People cannot receive extended PCA after Sept. 30, 2026.

Note: People receiving extended PCA who do not complete the transition to CFSS before Sept. 30, 2026, can continue to receive state plan PCA.

Consultation services providers actions

DHS asks CFSS consultation services providers to prioritize helping people receiving extended PCA to complete their CFSS individual service delivery plan before Sept. 30, 2026.

Lead agency actions

Lead agencies must:

  • · Change the end date to Sept. 30, 2026, on all extended PCA lines that currently end after Sept. 30, 2026.
  • · Encourage people to complete the transition to CFSS by submitting their CFSS individual service delivery plan.
  • MMIS system updates

    DHS updated MMIS on July 28, 2026, to post exception code 381 if the county/Tribal Nation:

  • · Adds a line for extended PCA services that ends after Sept. 30, 2026.
  • · Makes changes to a service agreement with an extended PCA services line that ends after Sept. 30, 2026, without editing the extended PCA services line end date.
