CDCS unbundling project will end Sept. 1, 2026

The rolling implementation of the CDCS unbundling project will end Sept. 1, 2026.

DHS actions

Effective Sept. 1, 2026, DHS will:

· Remove manual pages describing pre-unbundled categories from the CDCS Policy Manual.

· Remove the old version of the CDCS community support plan (i.e., CDCS Community Support Plan, DHS-6532) from DHS – Searchable document library (eDocs).

Lead agency actions

Effective Sept. 1, 2026, lead agencies must only approve CDCS community support plans that use unbundled CDCS service categories.

People receiving services actions

Effective Sept. 1, 2026, all people receiving CDCS services must:

· Write their CDCS community support plan using the unbundled CDCS service categories.

· Use CDCS Community Support Plan, DHS-5788A or an alternative format containing all the same information.

Background information

On Feb. 1, 2025, DHS began the rolling implementation of the CDCS unbundling project. This project:

· More accurately categorized goods and services in eight categories instead of four.

· Clarified provider qualifications.

· Clearly defined services.

During the transition, the old CDCS policy and CDCS unbundling project policy were in effect at the same time. For more information, refer to the Dec. 10, 2024, eList announcement.
