For integrated community supports, transportation is not included in the rate for the service. If a person needs transportation, separately authorize T2003 UC (one-way waiver transportation).

    Unit-based services frameworks

The following unit-based services have transportation included in the rate for the service:

  • · Employment development services.
  • · Employment exploration services.
  • · Employment support services.
  • · Individualized home supports (IHS) with training.
  • · IHS with family training.
  • · IHS without training.
  • · Night supervision services.
  • · Positive support services.
  • Same service provider and transportation provider (one provider)

    One unit-based service staff

When one unit-based service staff provides both the unit-based service and transportation as a part of the service, the lead agency authorizes one service agreement line for the specific unit-based service.

The time the person receives transportation as a part of the service is not billable time because the service includes transportation within the rate.

Two unit-based service staff at the same time

When there are two unit-based service staff (i.e., one providing the unit-based service and one providing transportation as a part of the service), the lead agency authorizes one service agreement line for the specific unit-based service.

The time the person receives transportation as a part of the service is billable time when two staff provide services during the transportation time (i.e., one providing the unit-based service and one providing transportation).

Different service provider and transportation provider (two providers)

When a different provider (i.e., not the unit-based service provider) provides transportation for a unit-based service, the lead agency authorizes two service agreement lines: one for the unit-based service provider and one for the waiver transportation provider using procedure code T2003 UC.

Waiver transportation (T2003 UC) is a market rate service. The lead agency should price the service accordingly. For more information, refer to CBSM – Market rate services.

The unit-based service provider cannot bill for time when the person receives transportation as a part of the service from the waiver transportation service provider.

For additional information about employment services and transportation, refer to CBSM – Resource: Transportation and day and employment services.

    Day services frameworks

    15-minute day support services

For day support services, the lead agency must authorize waiver transportation separately using procedure code T2003 UC. Waiver transportation (T2003 UC) is a market rate service. The lead agency should price the service accordingly. For more information, refer to CBSM – Market rate services.

15-minute or daily prevocational services and 15-minute or daily adult day services

For prevocational services or adult day services, the lead agency must authorize extended transportation separately using procedure code T2003 UC (one-way trip) or S0215 UC (per mile). Extended transportation (S0215 UC or T2003 UC) is a market rate service. The lead agency should price the service accordingly. For more information, refer to CBSM – Market rate services.
