Corporate foundations are created to support the business of the corporation and provide funding to the community as well.  These foundations are legally allowed to receive tax deductions for charitable donations up to 1 percent of their pre-tax earnings.   Minnesota has a strong tradition of corporate giving.   The Keystone Recognition Program, initiated in 1976 by the Greater Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, annually recognizes companies that commit 2-5 percent of their earnings for charitable purposes.   For a list of these companies, visit the Chamber of Commerce website.
