4.3.3 MFIP & DWP

ISSUE DATE: 04/2018

MFIP and DWP are Minnesota’s cash assistance programs for families with children. They differ in eligibility requirements and length of time a person can be on assistance. Persons receiving MFIP or DWP are eligible for the MFIP sub-program of Child Care Assistance if they are participating in appropriate activities, see Chapter (4.6 CCAP Authorized Activities). For payment purposes, retroactive eligibility cannot go back further than six months. See subsequent sub-sections for specific information on each.

Families participating in Family Stabilization Services (FSS)

Families participating in Family Stabilization Services (FSS) are eligible for child care according to the same rules and guidelines as other MFIP recipients. Child care is available for activities included in an FSS Employment Plan, See Chapter 4.6.3 (Authorized Activities within an Employment Plan).
