Ways providers can coordinate with DHS during the critical workforce shortage
DHS encourages HCBS residential providers to consult with us about available options for the people they support if their housing, health and/or safety is at risk.
We understand how the pandemic and ongoing direct care workforce shortages are putting providers at risk of terminating services, closing programs, relocating people who receive services and causing financial difficulties.
DHS staff from waiver and licensing divisions will work together with providers to identify potential flexibilities in specific situations, such as the possibility of 5th-bed variances, expansion of licensed capacity, use of other waiver services, etc.
