    Direct care workforce shortage

  • · DEED continues to partner with DHS in planning for the January recruitment event.
  • Discussion

    Subcommittee updates

Vote: to recommend a discontinuation of the policy requiring BIRFs from providers who have active approval (does not include providers who do not have approval) from the commissioner for the use of a prohibited procedure because:

    1. Those forms are duplicative of quarterly data updates on the PSTP review form

    2. The use of those procedures is closely monitored by the EPRC subcommittee

    3. DHS is not using the data received on the BIRFs from that small subpopulation (five people).

The committee completed its review and will send the manual draft to communications for publishing.

Review of the committee’s 2020 Olmstead recommendations

Committee members reviewed their 2020 Olmstead recommendations and noted for item 6:

  • · Many services recently received federal approval to continue with remote supports.
  • · DHS is looking at technology as a positive support strategy and how it can be used to increase independence. The EPRC could potentially make this a formal recommendation in their upcoming report. Liz will share with the committee technology information she is collecting, and the DHS technology lead has been invited to the committee’s January meeting.
  • Closing

Committee members are welcome to share additional information and discuss.

  • · Institute on Community Integration Flyer: ICI is starting a free Tier 1 beginner series on positive behavior support. Mary emailed the flyer to Stacie and she will share it with the committee.
