CFSS Implementation Council seeks new members

The Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) Implementation Council is looking to fill open seats for January appointments. The council consults and collaborates with DHS on the development and implementation of CFSS policy. People who apply should have knowledge of the current personal care assistance (PCA) program in Minnesota.

Open positions

We are looking for the following positions on the council:

  • · Advocate, one position open
  • · County or tribal nation representative, one position open
  • · Financial management service (FMS) representative, one position open
  • · Managed care organization representative, two positions open
  • · Person who receives services or family member, eight positions open
  • · Personal care assistance agency representative, two positions open.
  • Terms

    Each term is three years in duration (note exception below) and will begin January 2023. If a current members has a term that is expiring, they must reapply for their position if interested in continuing to serve on the council.

    Exception

    One managed care representative and one PCA agency representative will be appointed to a one-year term to fill unplanned vacancies. Members selected for these positions will be eligible to reapply for the position after the one-year term ends.

    Details

    Meetings

    Meetings are held on a quarterly basis (four times per year):

  • · Where: The council currently meets virtually. If meetings resume in-person, they will be held at DHS central offices in St. Paul (either at 540 Cedar St. or at 444 Lafayette Rd N). But, there will always be a phone or online option to attend.
  • · When: Meetings will be held on a week day, for about two hours (or less). Meetings will be scheduled between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • How to apply

    To apply for a position on the council:

    1. Visit the Minnesota Secretary of State Open Boards and Commissions page.
    2. Type “CFSS” in the text box that says “only show positions in this board/commission,” and “Community First Services and Supports Development and Implementation Council” will auto-populate. Select it from the drop-down.
    3. Scroll down and choose an open position category that applies to you.
    4. Click on “Apply” to see the application form. (Note: If you have not created an account, you will need to create an account before you can apply for an open position.)
    5. Fill out and submit the application form electronically.
    6. Follow directions to complete/submit the required statement of interest form. (Note: You can upload your statement of interest directly on the Secretary of State website under the “cover letter” option. Professional applicants also are encouraged to include a resume with their application. If you would prefer to email your statement of interest or resume to the selection committee, send them to DHS.CFSS@state.mn.us.)

    The Secretary of State’s office will notify DHS of your application. DHS will notify applicants if they are accepted.
