New grant program to help organizations support families of children with disabilities

Minnesota family support organizations can apply for a new grant to support programs for parents of children with disabilities. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023. The focus of these grants is to support families of children with autism spectrum disorder in underserved communities.

Important grant information:

  • · Funding cycle: Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, to Monday, June 30, 2025
  • · Available funds: $1.1 million divided among all grantees
  • · Number of grantees: One to three community organizations.
  • Purpose

    Through recent legislation DHS is awarding grant funding to organizations that provide:

  • · Outreach to new families
  • · Support for individual parents support and support through parent-to-parent peer groups
  • · Assistance for parents working through the social services system
  • · Help for families to navigate the service system through promotional materials (such as one-page tip sheets and short videos).
