Provider shortage

Across Minnesota and the nation, communities are experiencing a shortage of qualified healthcare providers. The provider shortage particularly affects rural areas. For more information about Minnesota’s efforts to build provider capacity, refer to DHS – Building EIDBI provider capacity.

ABA is a set of data-driven practices grounded in behavioral science. For more information, refer to the ABA section of EIDBI – Treatment modalities.

Licensure

EIDBI provider agencies must employ a licensed behavior analyst (LBA) if they practice ABA. All Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) enrolled as EIDBI providers must be licensed as an LBA by the Minnesota Board of Psychology or meet exclusion criteria. ABA provider certification requirements

There are four types of certified ABA providers, including:

1. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):

3. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA):

4. Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctoral (BCBA-D):

Licensure and certification

Minnesota does not license DIR/Floortime providers. DIR/Floortime providers must complete training and certification through one of the following certifying entities:

Greenspan Floortime Approach

Dr. Stanley Greenspan created the curriculum for training and certification in the Greenspan Floortime Approach Training and Certification Program.

Greenspan Floortime Approach providers have four certification levels:

The ICDL offers the professional DIRFloortime Certificate Program with training online and in person.

ICDL DIRFloortime provider certification requirements

Professionals must complete the DIR 101 Introduction to DIR and DIRFloortime course before they enter the professional DIRFloortime Certification Program.

The professional DIRFloortime Certification Program has four certification levels:

1. DIRFloortime Basic Certificate (DIR-Basic):

Profectum DIR-FCD provider certification requirements

Profectum DIR-FCD has two certification levels:

1. Profectum DIR Foundations Certificate.

2. Profectum DIR Advanced Certificate Course.

A professional also can become certified as a DIR-FCD trainer through the Profectum DIR Leadership Certificate Course.
