AC extension approved by CMS

CMS approved a five-year extension to the Section 1115 demonstration for the AC program, effective Feb. 1, 2025, through Jan. 31, 2030.

Implementation of changes and clarifications

DHS has not implemented all of the changes and clarifications in this eList yet. First, we must update our policy manuals and affected systems as applicable. DHS will send eList announcements and/or update CBSM – What’s new when we implement the changes and clarifications.

The following section summarizes policy changes and clarifications.

We made a technical change to update the title of the Section 1115 demonstration project to “Reform: Pathways to Independence.”

  • · Added transitional services as covered services, effective March 1, 2025.
  • Community First Services and Supports (CFSS)

  • · Updated non-covered CFSS services to include goods and services and personal emergency response systems (PERS).
    Note: CFSS goods and services and PERS are covered under other services, such as specialized equipment and supplies and PERS through AC. Effective immediately, the CFSS goods and services and CFSS PERS procedure codes should not be used for people on AC.
  • · Clarified that the only CFSS service available to people on AC is personal care services.
