Beginning June 26, 2017, the SSIS Training Unit, Child Safety and Permanency Division, is launching a new training program that combines classroom instructor-led courses with a collection of eLearning courses. The eLearning format means county and tribal caseworkers will no longer need to attend two days of SSIS Basics classroom instruction. They can now take the new SSIS Essentials eLearning courses at their work stations when it’s convenient for them. Click the links below for more information, including registration information and training dates.

SSIS Essentials

SSIS Essentials is a collection of eLearning courses designed to provide caseworkers with an introduction to basic navigation and functionality of core SSIS functions. Learning is self-paced and experiential. Courses can be completed using any internet connected computer through TrainLink. Completion of SSIS Essentials is required before workers can register for SSIS Child Protection Worker training or SSIS Adult Protection Worker training.

SSIS Child Protection Worker Training

The SSIS Child Protection Worker course focuses on data entry requirements for caseworkers using a “life of a case” model. This is a one-day course that follows a child protection investigation from intake through permanency and case management. It replaces the current SSIS Basics course. SSIS Essentials is a pre-requisite to the Child Protection Worker training and must be completed before registering.

SSIS Adult Protection Worker Training

The SSIS Adult Protection Worker course follows the life of a vulnerable adult maltreatment case starting with the intake received from MAARC through the investigation and closing of a case. This training is a half-day course offered four times per year, replacing the previous VA-CEP course. It is designed for new adult protection workers who are directly responsible for completing Adult Maltreatment Reports. SSIS Essentials is a pre-requisite to the Adult Protection Worker training and must be completed before registering.
