Overview | The person can use their individual CDCS funds to purchase any of the waiver/Alternative Care (AC) goods and services currently available under their program. In this manual, DHS refers to goods and services available under the waiver and AC programs as “traditional.” For a complete list of goods and services available under each program, refer to: | ||
Applicability | The information on this page applies to all traditional waiver/AC services, including extended personal care assistance (PCA), extended Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) and extended home care services (refer to CFSS Manual – Extended PCA/CFSS and CBSM – Extended home care services). This page does not apply to state plan PCA/CFSS and home care services. For information about purchasing those services, refer to CDCS Manual – Purchasing PCA/CFSS and home care services under CDCS. | ||
Requirements | The person must include the costs of all traditional waiver/AC goods and services they select in their individual CDCS budget. All traditional waiver/AC goods and services the person selects must meet all of the program-specific provisions, such as: PCA/CFSS and home care services through ACPeople using AC can purchase PCA/CFSS and/or home care services if: 1. The person is eligible for the service they will purchase, as described on: 2. The service addresses chronic and long-term care needs only. Service category | The person should list traditional AC/waiver goods and services on their CDCS community support plan (CSP) in the individual-directed goods and services category, described on CDCS Manual – Individual-directed goods and services. | ||
Authorization and billing | If the person purchases a traditional waiver/AC good or service, the: PCA/CFSS and home care services under the AC programIf the person purchases PCA/CFSS or home care services, the lead agency follows the authorization process for extended PCA/CFSS or home care (refer to CFSS Manual – Extended PCA/CFSS and CBSM – Extended home care services). | ||
