Definitions | Treatment and training: CDCS service category that promotes the person’s health and ability to live and participate in the community. Specialized therapies and behavioral supports: Services that a Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) medical provider prescribes to relieve the person’s disability and/or health condition. Training and education for paid and unpaid caregivers: Services that pay for training and education to support the caregiver’s ability to care for the person. Training and education for the person: Services that pay for training and education to increase the person’s ability to manage their CDCS services. Class: A single training. Course: A series of classes. Conference: A single or multi-day workshop or training, annual conference or symposium. | ||

Covered services | All services and goods must meet the criteria on CDCS Manual – Allowable and unallowable goods and services under CDCS. Specialized therapies and behavioral supportsThis CDCS service category covers specialized therapies and behavioral supports when the services meet all the following criteria: The person’s medical provider must complete and sign CDCS Specialized Therapy Request Form, DHS-5788C and/or CDCS Behavioral Support Request Form, DHS-5788B. The lead agency reviews the form to determine whether CDCS can fund the requested specialized therapy or behavioral support. Training and education for paid and unpaid caregiversThis CDCS service category covers the cost of training and education for paid and unpaid caregivers to support their ability to care for the person when the training and education meet all the following criteria: Examples of covered expenses include: Training and education for the personThis CDCS service category covers the cost of training and education for the person to increase their ability to manage their CDCS services when the training and education meet all the following criteria: Examples of covered expenses include registration fees to attend classes, conferences and courses. | ||

Remote support service delivery option | CDCS treatment and training can be delivered through remote support. Services delivered through remote support must meet all the requirements listed on CBSM – Remote support. | ||
Provider standards and qualifications | Specialized therapies and behavioral supportsProviders of specialized therapies or behavioral supports must: Training and education for paid and non-paid caregivers and the personTraining and education providers must hold relevant professional licenses, credentials or certifications as required by state law. For training and education that does not require professional licenses, credentials or certifications, the person can define provider qualifications in their CDCS CSP. | ||
Lead agency responsibilities | Before the person receives services, the case manager must: If state law does not require the provider of the service to hold a license, credential or certification, the case manager is responsible to verify the provider meets the qualifications defined in the CDCS CSP. The person must maintain documentation of provider qualifications. | ||
