Cancel a service agreement
Page posted: 8/3/26
Unlike screening documents, you cannot delete an unwanted or incorrect service agreement from MMIS after you save it. There are three ways to cancel unwanted or incorrect service agreements.
1. Do not save the service agreement
If, while working in a service agreement, you discover the service agreement is unwanted or contains significant errors (e.g., wrong service agreement type for the person’s program), press F6 to exit the service agreement without saving the data or the service agreement.
2. Change the header status to D (deny)
If you saved an incorrect service agreement, you can:
These actions ensure no one receives a “denial” letter.
Note: You should only use this option if this service agreement has not previously issued letters or notices, and no claims have been paid against the saved service agreement. If the service agreement has previously issued letters or notices to providers or recipients, do not change the send recipient letter to N or remove the provider number from the line items. Instead, add the appropriate reason code to each affected line item so the appropriate reason for the denial is indicated on the MMIS generated letter/notice. For more information, refer to MMIS LTSS Manual – Service agreement reason codes.
3. Manage changes at the line-item level on the service agreement
In some cases, the current service agreement is mostly correct, but it includes incorrect or unwanted line items or incorrect information within a line item. For information about corrections related to rates, units or providers, refer to MMIS LTSS Manual – Close a service agreement and MMIS LTSS Manual – Create a new service agreement.
