Long-term care (LTC) screening document navigation

For general information about navigating in MMIS, refer to MMIS LTSS Manual – Function keys and MMIS LTSS Manual – Basic actions and common errors.

The F4 key is the primary key used to navigate between MMIS subsystems. When you navigate to other subsystems, you cannot change data in those subsystems. When working in an LTC screening document, you can press F4 to view other information related to the person without having to log out of the current screening document.

Your MMIS access/security group determines your permissions to navigate to other MMIS subsystems. Only county and Tribal Nation staff have full use of the F4 key. Managed care organization (MCO) staff can only navigate on the screening document diagnosis code and exception code (i.e., edit) fields.

Specific uses for navigation

When in an LTC screening document, you can use navigate to view:

· Recipient subsystem information (i.e., information about the person receiving services).

· Diagnosis codes for more information about diagnoses.

· Case manager, care coordinator or certified assessor provider information (e.g., phone number).

· Exception code (i.e., edit) text for information about why MMIS is posting the exception code and how to resolve it.

To view the information, move the cursor to the relevant field and press F4. When you finish viewing information in other subsystems, press F3 (save and exit) or F6 (exit without saving) to return to the current screening document. The following sections provide more detail.

Recipient subsystem

The recipient subsystem provides information related to major health care program eligibility, managed care enrollment, LTC eligibility and other information.

You can press F4 to navigate to the recipient subsystem when the cursor is anywhere in the screening document.

Once you are in the recipient subsystem, you can either:

· Press the transmit key to move to the next screen.

· Enter the name of a screen in the NEXT field and press the transmit key to move to that screen.

Diagnoses

To view diagnoses:

1. Move the cursor to any of the diagnosis fields on the screening document.

2. Press F4.

The screen will show the diagnosis name, the acceptable sex that may have this diagnosis (i.e., male, female or both), the acceptable ages and the period the code is valid.

This screen is helpful if MMIS posts exception codes based on the diagnosis fields.

Case manager, care coordinator or certified assessor

To view information about the case manager, care coordinator or certified assessor:

1. Move the cursor to any character in the CM/HP/CA NBR field.

2. Press F4 to open the PSUM (provider summary) screen of the provider subsystem.

3. Press the transmit key to move to the PADD screen, which contains information such as provider type 23 (counties and Tribal Nations) or 27 (MCOs), agency address, phone and/or fax number.

4. Press the transmit key to move to the next screen or enter the name of a screen in the NEXT field and press the transmit key to move to that screen.

Exception codes

To view information about exception codes:

1. Move the cursor to the exception code number.

2. Press F4 to view a text screen with more information about why MMIS posted the exception code, where the problem is located, how to correct it and whether the exception code is forcible.

3. Press F7 and F8 keys to move within the exception code text if there is a + (plus) or - (minus) at the bottom of the screen.
