SimilaritiesNeither PCA nor CFSS require a physician’s authorization. Eligibility is based on statute, not medical necessity. DifferencesIn PCA, lead agencies must send a communication to the person’s physician informing the physician of the outcome of the assessment. The information on this page applies only to PCA. In CFSS, lead agencies are not required to communicate with the person’s physician. | ||
Process | As part of the PCA assessment process, lead agencies must send a communication of assessed needs to the person’s physician after the initial PCA assessment or reassessment using Communication to Physician of PCA Services, DHS-4690 (PDF). The lead agency does not have to complete DHS-4690 in the following circumstances: The lead agency must complete DHS-4690 for an assessment or reassessment for services that continue after a temporary start or increase of PCA services. | ||
