Enhanced online employment-focused training for service providers
The Department of Human Services has added access to the College of Employment Services Plus (CES Plus) content to its DirectCourse offerings. People who have completed all College of Employment Services (CES) courses successfully may apply to take the CES Plus courses using the instructions below.
Access to CES Plus is limited to the first 100 people who apply, however, so sign up soon.
Background
CES courses help license-holders provide competency-based training for their staff. The CES Plus option goes beyond the basic CES curriculum by providing webinars, activities and fieldwork that builds on the basic-level instruction. It is a powerful resource that can help to equip people with the skills and competencies needed to provide employment services.
Certification opportunities
DHS and the University of Minnesota have created learning modules to help license-holders to provide competency-based training for their staffs around employment exploration, development and support services. These modules also meet the Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) and the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) certification requirements for trainees who successfully complete and pass all components of the program.
How to apply
In order to apply for CES Plus, participants must:
1. Complete all 43 CES post-lesson quizzes with a score of 80 percent or higher
2. Send an email to DSD.EmploymentFirst@state.mn.us with “CES Plus” in the subject line and your first and last name in the body.
When DHS receives your email, it will verify you have completed all CES courses. DHS then will send you an application for CES Plus with detailed submission instructions.
