UPDATED: DHS to host training for autism providers March 26
Due to the recent guidance to limit the spread of COVID-19, we are moving the upcoming training for autism providers on March 26, 2020, to be online only. We previously provided a WebEx link for this training, but we are changing to a Zoom platform to facilitate better discussion opportunities.
Please share this information with your networks. Thank you for understanding. We appreciate your flexibility.
The training will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 26, 2020. It will cover information on diagnostic and cognitive testing, as well as developmental and behavioral assessments and evaluations.
Agenda
10 a.m. to noon: presentation by Amy Esler
Amy Esler, Ph.D., LP, will present on evidence-based practice in evaluation of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She will discuss important elements of evaluation for initial and follow-up evaluations, as well as common questions that arise during the evaluation process. The presentation will include lecture, video examples and discussion/Q&A. Esler will describe how to assess areas of ASD symptoms, as well as cognitive development, communication/language, adaptive skills and co-occurring behavioral issues that comprise best practice evaluation and how to link findings to recommendations for treatment.
Noon to 1 p.m.: Lunch break on your own
1 to 2 p.m.: presentation by Eric Larsson and Lisa Barsness of the Lovaas Institute
Eric Larsson, Ph.D., LP, BCBA-D, and Lisa Barsness, MS, BCBA, will present on the Lovaas Institute’s applied behavior analysis assessment system as it is used for diagnostic assessments, CMDEs and individualized treatment plans (ITPs). The presentation will review the purpose of the components of the multimodal evaluation system, how progress is measured every six months and how the analysis of this progress results in individualized objectives in the ITP.
2 to 3 p.m.: presentation by Brooke Anderson and Jenny Lillehei
Brooke Anderson, LMFT, BCBA, and Jenny Lillehei, LMFT, BcaBA, will present on Fraser’s process for completing the CMDE. The process includes an interview with the client’s family, a review of prior evaluations and assessments, input from other service providers and a client observation. We will review how this information informs our clinical recommendations and treatment planning.
