Assisted living facility licensure law toolkit for lead agencies is now available

DHS has developed the new Assisted living facility licensure toolkit webpage to help lead agency staff when they are supporting a person whose provider will no longer deliver customized living services.

DHS anticipates that the vast majority of current customized living providers will meet the new provider standards that take effect Aug. 1, 2021, and will continue to deliver customized living services. However, some providers might choose to stop delivering customized living services.

The toolkit provides information about:

  • · The role of the lead agency
  • · Resources for case managers/care coordinators
  • · Helpful links for more information about the new assisted living licensure requirements
  • · MDH and DHS contact information for support.
  • At a future date, DHS will provide more general information to lead agencies about the new assisted living facility licensure law, what it means for people who will continue to receive customized living services, and any steps lead agencies must take to prepare for this transition.
