Background

Developed in 1996, the Metro Crisis Coordination Program (MCCP) is a collaborative effort among the seven metropolitan counties: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington. MCCP provides a range of crisis safety net services for people with developmental disabilities and related conditions.

Mount Olivet Rolling Acres (MORA), MCCP's parent organization, is a private, nonprofit agency that has provided residential and other services to people with developmental disabilities for over 50 years.

Program description

MCCP works collaboratively with people, private providers and public agencies in the Twin Cities metropolitan area to:

  • · Prevent crises that affect the residential, work and/or educational services of people with developmental disabilities and related conditions
  • · Provide relationship-based crisis services that cause the least amount of disruption to people
  • · Reduce the use of hospitalizations and civil commitments in crisis situations.
  • MCCP's team includes behavior analysts, social workers, psychiatric nurses and consulting psychiatrists and psychologists.

    Eligibility

    MCCP serves people with developmental disabilities who:

  • · Live in one of the seven metro counties
  • · Have an open case with a developmental disabilities unit in one of the seven metro counties (or are in the process of opening a case).
  • Services

    MCCP provides 24-hour phone support, on-site crisis and support planning, training and referrals to more extensive and/or specialized services (e.g., Community Support Services [CSS]). For a complete list of services, see MCCP – Services.

    Settings

    MCCP staff provides consultation in:

  • · Group living settings
  • · Hospitals and long-term care facilities
  • · People’s homes
  • · Work sites and schools.

    Funding

    MCCP services are primarily funded by the home and community-based (HCBS) waivers.
