Free skills- and interest-based employment training opportunity

The Department of Human Services invites people with disabilities, their families and support staff to participate in a free two-day employment training on Sept. 30 and Oct. 14.

The Discovering Personal Genius training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, with lunch provided, at Community Involvement Programs, 2300 Kennedy St. NE, Suite 140, Minneapolis, MN 55413.

Space is limited. Attendees should register early to ensure space is available. The training is made possible through funds from the Disability Services Division.

The step-by-step training will highlight the ways a person can find employment based on his or her skills and interests.

Training topics will include:

  • · Review of customized employment
  • · Steps and stages of Discovering Personal Genius
  • · Developing vocational themes
  • · Linking discovery and job development
  • Skills learned in this training can be used at work and home. The training includes materials, teaching strategies and hands-on practice.
