DSD eList announcement

Date: April 6, 2018
To: Lead agency staff and disability waiver service providers of respite (daily)

Respite (daily) is now a market-rate service

The recently approved waiver amendment removes respite (daily) from the framework rate category of the Disability Waiver Rate System (DWRS). Lead agency staff no longer will use the Rate Management System (RMS) framework to determine rates for respite (daily) authorizations. Respite (daily) is now a market-rate service.

For more information about the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-approved waiver amendment package, see the March 15, 2018, eList.

What do I need to do?

For information about how this affects data entry into the MnCHOICES Support Plan Application and MMIS, see RMS User Manual – Temporary manual banding scenario for respite (daily).

For information about the rate determination categories, see CBSM – Disability Waiver Rate System (DWRS).

Note about respite (15-minute)

Respite (15-minute) is still a DWRS framework service. You must use RMS within the MnCHOICES Support Plan Application to determine respite (15-minute) unit rates.
