DEFERRED ACTION

ISSUE DATE: 05/2024

An immigration official agrees not to take action on a person’s immigration case for a certain amount of time. That person is allowed to live and work in the United States for the amount of time granted by the immigration official. 

People with Deferred Action AND a valid Employment Authorization Document are eligible for benefits.

Eligibility

  • MFIP (state-funded)
  • DWP 
  • SNAP if age 50 or over (state-funded food)
  • GA

Most common examples of Immigration Documentation

  • Employment Authorization Document 
  • Form I-797 Notice of Action granting approval of Deferred Action 
  • Immigration Court document granting Deferred Action
