Updated Minnesota Autism Portal now live

The Minnesota Autism Resource Portal has a new look and new navigation. The redesigned site better equips communities, parents, advocates, self-advocates and professionals with information and tools about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or related disorders, and its impact on family life, education and work in Minnesota.

According to the University of Minnesota’s Autism Development Disabilities Monitoring network, ASD or related disorders affects about 1 in 59 children nationwide and 1 in 42 children in Minnesota.

Features

Key portal features include:

· Videos that raise awareness and understanding of ASD or related disorders and services available, including real Minnesota families from African American, American Indian, Hmong, Latino and Somali communities talking about their journeys from receiving a diagnosis to accessing services and supports.

· A resource list with links to help people learn about topics, such as health care, screening and diagnosis, research, intervention services and other supports.

· Monthly news

Community Partners

First launched two years ago, the site is part of a joint effort by multiple state agencies (Departments of Education, Health, Employment and Economic Development, IT Services and Human Services). The University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration is a key partner.

Stakeholders from these organizations and interested ASD community members informed the redesign process.
