May trainings and events about autism and related conditions

This eList announcement provides a summary of trainings and events in May 2022 about ASD and related conditions.

Dates, times and registration

1. Summer engagement opportunities:

· Date and time: Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 3 to 4 p.m.

· Description: This event provides information about creative ways to keep children engaged and maintain skills during the summer break from school. The training highlights virtual and in-person activities across Minnesota to help children, youth and young adults with ASD stay engaged, build social skills and meet sensory needs, including resources to support the transition back to school after break.

2. Give & get: Lessons learned from collaboration of multidisciplinary teams:

· Date and time: Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 3 to 5 p.m.

· Description: The goal of this event is to engage families, professionals and other community partners to provide an equitable, family-centered, coordinated model of care across settings. The most effective supports come from successful collaboration of multidisciplinary teams. This means we need to work together for the benefit of all children and families. This webinar will feature a panel discussing the barriers and benefits to collaboration when providing services to children with ASD and related conditions.

3. Community engagement: Get to know EIDBI providers:

· Date and time: Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 9 to 11 a.m.

· Description: This event is an opportunity for community members to connect with Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) providers. Providers with immediate openings or short waiting lists for evaluation and intervention services will share information about the services they provide, the people they serve and how to make a referral. For more information about the EIDBI benefit, visit the EIDBI Benefit Policy Manual.

4. May community conversation:

· Date and time: Tuesday, May 24, 2022, noon to 1 p.m.

· Description: This event is an opportunity for learning and growing through different and shared experiences. Join DHS to connect with other families and caregivers for a casual discussion about shared experiences, community resources and services/supports available in Minnesota. This month, we will be joined by community organizations to learn more about support groups, advocacy opportunities, trainings and other community resources available.
